With this amazing weather it's hard to believe that winter is around the corner. Birds in the surrounding areas appear to be lingering. As such the children are noticing them as they slowly make their way south for the winter. We thought it would be interesting to give the children a challenge: to keep an eye out this for any stragglers (birds), and to see if they are able to identify them, either by name or characteristic. On Monday, the children will have an opportunity to write/draw about a particular bird. Next week we will also continue our research into different birds and their migrating habits (or lack there of).
On this note, we will be exploring habitats and habits, including 'nesting'. We will be celebrating the nesting ritual on Friday November 30th, as we 'nest' in class (aka, PJ DAY). Children are invited to come to school in their pajamas (please consider having them wear snow/splash pants for recesses, depending on the weather).
In the housekeeping department, we would like to extend our apologies. It seems our class website is not 'updating' when we, in fact, update it, but rather hours later. Please bear with us as we look into this technical difficulty with our host. Also, please note that our website is intended to share information pertaining to our class. For school-wide information please ensure that you are also visiting the school website (https://gab.ocsb.ca/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp) and that you have signed up for Mrs. Hill's Flash Alerts.
Happy bird-watching...
Ms. Riley & Mme. Christine
PS. Check out 3 new French links that have been added on the right-hand side of the blog - the kids love these songs!
