Fall is Here!

A few housekeeping items:
  • Please check your child's mail folder daily and ensure it is returned daily. Today our first Scholastic Order Form is going home. More information about our Scholastic Program is attached to the form.
  • Also, we printed off a copy of the St. Gabe's Clothing Order Form in case some of you did not receive a Flash Alert in this regard. These forms are due Monday, September 24th.
  • We've had a few inquiries regarding the children's lunches. The children have two 20-minute Nutrition Breaks. We are strongly encouraging healthy, nutritious snacks. A treat may be consumed after their healthy snacks in the p.m. if you have included one. In order to ensure your child is consuming sufficient food , a general 'guideline' we've found helpful is to ensure that something is coming home uneaten. If there is a significant amount of food returning home uneaten it may be that you are sending in too much food. If their lunch bag is coming home completely empty they may not have had sufficient food. As always, we circulate during the children's snack-time to aid with containers and making healthy choices. We also encourage a quieter eating time (listening to good music) so our little social butterflies focus on the task at hand.
Other News & Events:
On Wednesday September 26th, the children will be learning about Terry Fox. As a tribute to St. Gabriel Families who have been affected by this disease, we will be participating in a brief 'walk' around the school yard to show our support. The Kindergarten children will not be asked to fundraise for this event, but will be learning about Courage in the Face of Adversity and Supporting Each Other in Times of Need. If you personally wish to contribute to this important cause you may make a donation through the following website:

By now you are probably hearing a variety of French songs at home. Please click on the links on the right-hand side of this webpage to view some of the material your child has enjoyed practising. Stay tuned! Other supporting materials will be posted and sent home as they are presented and explored.

In other areas of learning the children have been exploring a variety of different centres, developing routines, friendships, and working together cooperatively while learning to respect our classroom materials.

Finally, thank you for sending in a copy of your family/those who love us. These photos provide comfort and will enable us to explore "Family" in the coming weeks. If you have yet to send your pic in please ensure it is a 4x6 sized photograph. We will send them home in June.

Enjoy your first Autumn week-end,
Mme. Christine Laroche & Ms. Erin Riley
