Is it spring yet?

Hello,

Wasn't April fools day a few weeks ago???  This MUST be the last winter storm...we hope!

Regardless of the weather outside, we have been gearing up to observe spring's first signs.  Earlier this week, April showers brought us friendly, wiggly, gooey visitors when a few worms made their way to our class (with some help). The children were very excited to look at them and share what they knew about worms. We also referred to the internet to answer questions to their inquiries. In the process, we came across very interesting information. Did you know that Australia is home to some worms that are 2M LONG?

In related news, we also had a special delivery of other creepy crawlies - caterpillar larvae (Kalerpillars to many of our classmates ;o). We have adopted them in our class aquarium and look forward to watching them grow and transform into butterflies. Do YOU know how long it will take?

Other earthy news:
  • We are working with the eco team to help plan garden areas here at school where children will be involved in a variety of gardening/greening initiatives.  Stay tuned for more updates when the weather is more cooperative.
  • Dr. D was in the house yesterday! Children learned about various natural habitats; ways we harm them and ways we can protect them.

Some classroom news:
  • We'd like to welcome Loraleah McCarvill (Ms. M) to our team. Ms. M is replacing           Mme. Laroche on Mondays as she has reduced her work schedule until the end of the year.
The children are already familiar with Ms.M and we are all excited to welcome her to the class!
